Our employees and faculty from Auburn’s Center for Forest Sustainability (CFS) are jointly assessing urban effects on forest vegetation in an area of the Florida Panhandle that is undergoing rapid land-use and ownership changes. CFS also organizes a biannual conference titled “Emerging Issues along Urban-Rural Interfaces” in partnership with SRS-4952.

Southern Wildland-Urban Interface Council
The Southern Group of State Foresters (SGSF) provides guidance to the Center through the Southern Wildland-Urban Interface Council (SWUIC), which is a chartered council of the SGSF and serves as the Center’s advisory council. SWUIC is composed of members from state forestry agencies, the USDA Forest Service, several southern universities, Southern Regional Forestry Extension, and non-government organization
